Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce honors APPI Energy at 94th Annual Banquet Ceremony

Salisbury, Md., April 22, 2014—Energy consulting firm APPI Energy was honored with the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce (SACC) Medium Business of the Year Award at the chamber’s 94th Annual Banquet Ceremony on April 16, 2014. Each year, SACC bestows the award to a firm of six to fifty staff members that has demonstrated growth. The medium-size business must exhibit superior customer service and an innovative approach to the market. Community involvement is also considered.

Walter Moore, President/CEO of APPI Energy, accepted the award, which was presented by sponsor Fred Baker of Comcast Spotlight, at Salisbury University Perdue Hall Atrium. Mr. Moore founded APPI Energy in 1996 with a unique entrepreneurial business model and marketing strategy designed to serve commercial electricity and natural gas customers. Headquartered in Salisbury, Maryland, APPI Energy employs 37 full-time employees, including several Salisbury University graduates and interns.

Managing partners Walter Moore; Michael Payne, JD, LLM, Executive Vice President & Corporate Counsel; and Kathy Kiernan, Senior Vice President, differentiate APPI Energy from other consultants by marketing energy consulting services as a member benefit program through associations and chambers of commerce across the U.S. In the past five years, APPI Energy’s revenues and employee count have doubled, despite challenging economic times.

“I’m thankful to the SACC and our trade associations, chambers of commerce, and clients across the U.S. that have helped our business grow in the past two decades,” said Walter Moore. “Our entire team is privileged to have been nominated and selected as Medium Business of the Year.”

APPI Energy clients are served by a team of energy analysts, marketing and operations experts, legal and financial professionals, and customer service specialists. APPI Energy’s mission is to retain clients on a long-term basis. Its success is evidenced by its very high client retention rate and ongoing endorsements from affinity partners.

APPI Energy’s team is encouraged to be active in civic activities on Maryland’s lower Eastern Shore. Employees have served many organizations, including the Delmarva Zoological Society, the Greater Salisbury Committee, Kids of Honor, the Life Crisis Center, Lower Shore Enterprises, the Optimist Club of Salisbury, the Peninsula Regional Medical Center Junior Auxiliary Board, SACC, the Salisbury Sunrise Rotary Club, the Salisbury University Foundation, Salisbury University’s Franklin P.
