APPI Energy team members earn Certified Energy Procurement Professional credential
SALISBURY, MD, April 18, 2013—APPI Energy announced its team of energy experts now includes five energy consultants that have earned the Association of Energy Engineers’ (AEE) Certified Energy Procurement Professional (CEP) credential. Deborah Carven, CEP, Senior Energy Consultant; Dan Flaherty, CEP, Energy Consultant; Carolyn Hanna, CEP, Senior Energy Consultant; Les Katona, CEP, Senior Energy Consultant; and Jeff Sherman, MBA, CEP, Director of Consulting, successfully completed the AEE’s three-day training program and four-hour written examination to achieve CEP recognition.
Dan Flaherty and Les Katona earned their CEP credential in March 2013. Deborah Carven and Carolyn Hanna earned their CEP status in April 2012. Jeff Sherman earned his CEP designation in April 2011. “According to the AEE, CEPs demonstrate a high level of knowledge, experience, competence, and ethical fitness covering the full spectrum of activities related to the purchase, sale, and marketing of electricity and natural gas,” said APPI Energy President/CEO Walter Moore.
Before beginning the AEE’s Fundamentals of Buying and Selling Energy program, CEP candidates must meet prerequisite criteria, including educational and professional experience requirements. After applicants successfully complete the examination and application process, AEE’s Certification Board performs a final review and notifies candidates of approval or denial. Each CEP must obtain 10 Continuing Education Units or Professional Development Hours every four years to maintain certification.
“Individuals who earn CEP status help us grow as a team and enhance our comprehensive suite of energy consulting services to better advocate for our customers,” said Moore. Since 1996, APPI Energy has been committed to providing superior, independent consulting services that reduce energy expenses.
